Mackinac Bridge

Monday Joel and I drove up to Mackinac City to interview Steve Forbes for an event on campus. We drove up Monday night, stayed at a really nice hotel, and then took the ferry over Tuesday morning to interview him.
Did the set up on the famous porch of the Grand Hotel and Dr. Beebe came with Mr. Forbes to do the interviewing. It went well, and Forbes asked Dr. Beebe to have dinner at the head table…with President Bush! #41. Daddy Bush. He told me later that the dinner was amazing and Mr. Bush is pretty incredible.
Because I basically lost two days of work, I also lost two days of school work. So, on the four hour trip home I read and wrote the entire way home. Then spent another two hours after I got home. The class work doesn’t stop just ’cause I’m out of town. But it’s another reason why I love what I do. I get to do these kind of speical projects that really make a difference.

Move In Day

This past Labor Day Weekend we decided not to take off. We didn’t have to work, but we decided to help the SAFMC college ministry and serve SAU by helping the freshmen move in.
It’s always an exciting time to see these freshmen arrive with their families. It’s a weekend that represents so many hopes, dreams, and opportunity. We love it. Grace was with us all day as we walked around giving out cold drinks to people moving in.
Later in the evening, we went back to eat dinner with nearly 1000 people in the new plaza on campus. It was awesome. And really cool for us to remember why we love Spring Arbor. It’s also cool to see Grace take this all in. Cool that she is growing up on a college campus that’s growing. Thankful for a great day to serve and share.

Improv Inferno

This past Saturday night we went on a date. Just the two of us. Micki and Jason. Alone. And we went for a combo date. A little remembering the past and trying something new.

The past memory was going to Tios for dinner. Ahh. Love it. Great Mexican food. Good conversation. Then we headed to the Improv Inferno. It’s a new comedy club in AA and we decided to give it a try.

It was a cool mix of improv comedy and instant film making. They literally made a 45 minute feature before our eyes. I’ve never seen anything like it, but we sure liked it. Definitely going back. They’ve got a Web site if you wanna check it out. www.improvinferno.com. Feel free to check it out. The night seemed to go by too quickly, but it was a great time with Micki. It’s always great. Especially once in awhile when we get to go just the two of us.
