I Dream of Gracie

I Dream of Gracie

Tonight we are hanging out and Grace wanted to surprise me by putting on her outfit Uncle Sam bought for her in Indonesia. It has no buttons, snaps or any kind of normal way to wear clothes. It looks like scraps of fabric, but when you put them together right, they turn into…well…this. Grace wanted to be a genie with the outfit and put her hair up. She’s dancing in the basement now with the disco lights and her Disney kids CD singing and dancing. Mama’s child. Nice life in the Archer home today. Nicey-nice.

Our First Blind Contour: Coke Bottle

Grace and I have been having fun hanging out in the office tonight. We got the scanner hooked up to upload her interpretation of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”. As we were doing this, Grace was asking me how a scanner worked and how we would get her pic online. I began to explain to her how it worked and we were talking about Aunt Julie’s Journal and how she puts her drawings online.

We went to her site and were looking at the blind contour drawings. Grace said how funny they looked and we talked about it and looked at several sites that do blind contours. We then decided to test it out and each draw a 1 Liter Coke bottle in the office. Feel free to post comments and enjoy comparing our creations.

Grace brought this home from school and her art class. It was an exercise to draw a famous piece of art. Grace chose Van Gogh. She told me all about it and that it was called, “Starry Night”. I thought it was amazing. We’ve got the scanner hooked up now and are going to be displaying some more of Grace and maybe even my artwork soon. Aunt Julie, I’d better be seeing some comments from you on this post!
