Well, its only one day after Mercedes has gone back to PA. We miss her. But we sure did have some fun while she was here. We got together on Sunday at the Ohio border to do the drop off. It was great to meet Katherine’s new husband, David. Seems like a really cool guy. Looking forward to hanging out at the family reunion and maybe helping them fix up their new house.
We headed home and the girls enjoyed tearing the playbasement apart with toys, games, and movies. Later that night we all got into the hot tub for a little “soakey, soakey”.
Monday we started out on a VERY special adventure. We didn’t tell the girls where we were going to the Detroit Zoo and Builder Bear Workshop. After getting closer to the zoo, they saw the big reveal. Had a great time. Of all the zoos we’ve been to, I think Toledo is #1, Binder Park is #2, and Detroit is #3. But it was a cool zoo, and we had a great time. The shorter two ladies that came started to poop out towards the end, so we made a break for the kkkkkKia and headed into the AC, cold drinks, and a short ride to Builder Bear Workshop.
Fortunately for Grace, she brought her “Tiger” with her. Her present on our special date to Detoit to the Tigers game and Builder Bear. Mercedes had said about a month ago that she had never been and always dreamed of going. So, Grace got a new outfit for Tiger and Mercedes got a new friend, Cuddles. They had a blast, and Mick and I enjoyed creating it for them.
We got home late, so the girls got to sleep “after hours”. Tuesday they got to chill, spend a couple of hours in the pool, play Crash Bandicoot, and in the evening we made custom birthday cards for Katherine and Alison. 3-D ballerina cards. Wednesday morning Mick got the girls into the car for the ride back to the border and lunch with Katherine, Alison, Cassie, and the girls. They had some fun, and my ladies headed back home.
It’s so cool to connect as a family. For better or for worse we’re stuck with each other. So, better to enjoy these special memories together than apart. We’re looking forward to being together in PA on Labor Day weekend, and another special trip for “The Big Cuz” next summer.
