So, Grace comes home and we’re eating dinner last night. They’ve been studying planets, she’s got her acronym for remembering, etc. And she explained to us why Pluto is no longer considered a planet. Then she explained to us something funny. She was talking about Uranus and said one of her classmates was saying the name of the planet really inappropriately. Mick and I were not surprised. We figured we’d hear the standard joke name for Uranus.
However…
We were surprised when Grace said her friend said it sounded like Urine-us. Urine. Mick and I looked at each other and started cracking up. Grace didn’t know why. She figured it was because it was funny. We were cracking up because little does she know, when she gets a bit older, she’s going to discover a different pronunciation for Uranus. And it’s a lot funnier than Urine-Us.
