So the first day of our week long celebration of eachother is going pretty well so far. Joel and Janette drove us to the airport. Strods have Grace. Flights went well for the most part. Our connection from ATL to Orlando was one hour late. But it’s all good when you’re not in a hurry.
I had a uncharacteristic hiccup when I couldn’t find our car rental confirmation. Turns out I have two Hotwire accounts. Resolved. At the counter for Avis I told the counter guy we were on our 15th anniversary with no kids and looking forward to a week alone with my girl. I hinted at a free upgrade, which seemed out of the question being that no car rental company in Orlando had cars to rent. Sold out.
So, it came with a total shock when we headed to the garage to pick up our car and found that we totally got the upgrade. A brand new Mistubishi Spyder. Convertible. Wow. We had to get instructions on how to put the top down. Drove from Orlando to Vero Beach in the moonlight with some classic rock on the radio. Majestic.
We almost stopped at a Waffle House to honor Sam, but will partake some other time. In short, if day one was any indicator of how this week is going to go, I could be overwhelmed with joy to the point of needing to go to the ER. It’s that good. It’s amazing. And Joel Maust, it’s favor.
